When the Xbox Game Pass was announced, there was no way not to get excited. With a price worth $ 30 a month for access to a large (and growing!) Catalog of games, the service is a good deal especially for those who just purchased the console. However, a very annoying problem has been discovered in the service that caused people who actually bought the games to have their licenses canceled, losing access to them.
Let’s say you bought “Halo 5” on disk before signing the Game Pass; the game is part of the service catalog, available “free” for its subscribers. Nothing changes for you, right? You now cancel your Game Pass application; you should continue to be able to access “Halo 5” for which you have paid and added to your account forever. But that is not what has happened.
The Motherboard site identified a number of Reddit users making the same complaint, that they became unable to play the games they purchased after canceling the Game Pass subscription. The user RodCCL tried everything to be able to run his copy in disk of “Halo 5” until trying to install the game again twice, to reconnect the console, to re-download his profile, but nothing helped, because the problem was not in his console or disk, but on Xbox Live. User TheOnlyTruthfulGamer also cataloged a series of similar license cases disappearing thanks to the Game Pass.
In a statement to Motherboard, Microsoft says it is already aware of the problem and trying to resolve it. “We are committed to ensuring users that they have access to the games they have purchased. We are aware and working to validate and resolve, “the company says.
