A Reddit user today unveiled an image of the alleged Galaxy S9 case, Samsung’s new top-of-the-line phone that is due for release soon. Just like the Galaxy S8 box, the user-leaked picture box brings all the device specs; therefore, it is likely that the image already contains the details of the device settings.
According to the box, the handset will have a 5.8-inch AMOLED screen with Quad HD + resolution (2960 by 1440 pixels), 64 GB of storage, 4 GB of RAM, 12 MP rear camera with f / 1.5 aperture and 8 MP front camera. In addition, it must maintain other features of its predecessor, such as wireless charging, iris scanner to unlock the phone with the eyes and IP68 certification of resistance against water and dust. The image of the box can be seen below:
Although the list of features does not include some important information – such as the exact processor model – it brings a pretty interesting fact: the f / 1.5 aperture of the camera’s camera lens. If this is confirmed, the Galaxy S9 will be the first smartphone to have this aperture in the lens of your camera. As we explain in another story, a lens with large apertures like this allows more light to reach the sensor, which improves the camera’s performance in poorly lit situations.
The box also mentions a “Super slow-mo” feature, or super-slow motion, for the rear camera of the device. It is not clear, however, whether this feature will be similar to recording at 960 frames per second of Sony’s Xperia XZ Premium camera. Finally, both the stereo speakers of the phone and the headphones that come with it will be made by the AKG audio company.
According to the BGR, these settings refer only to Galaxy S9; the Galaxy S9 Plus, in turn, should have some features beyond the screen and larger battery. Among them would be a dual camera set on the back of the device, more storage options (up to 512 GB) and more RAM.
