Nintendo released yesterday, 12, an update to the operating system of the Switch. Unlike the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 updates, however, Nintendo’s only adds a few new features to the hybrid console, such as new options for adding friends and bug fixes.
The main change comes in social resources. Nintendo has made life easier for those who want to add friends from Twitter and Facebook to the Switch. From now on, anyone who has the social networking account linked to the Nintendo account gains the option to add any friend who also has the console.
The other additions are quite small: new user icons have been added with characters from the “ARMS” and “Kirby” games, and purchases made by the PC or mobile phone start to download faster on the console, even if it is in Hibernate mode. In parental control, the PIN code can no longer be entered through the touchscreen, only using the control and the buttons on the console.
In addition, Nintendo has fixed a number of bugs in the console system, including one that erased game time after a year – users complained that after the console’s birthday on March 3, game time data dropped , but Nintendo guarantees that this has been fixed.
Version 5.0.0 of the Switch can now be downloaded by the owners of the console.
