The Chinese brand Huawei announced on Tuesday, 27, no fewer than three smartphones. They are the P20, the P20 Pro, which stands out with triple camera, and Porsche Design Mate RS, the world’s first with 512 GB of internal memory.
Starting with the P20 and P20 Pro dual. The first is a more affordable top of the line with IPS LCD screen of 5.8 inches and ratio 18.7: 9; Kirin 970 octa-core processor up to 2.4 GHz; 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory.
On the back it comes with two cameras: a 12 MP with open angle lens and f / 1.6 aperture, with optical stabilization and 1.55μm pixels; and another 20 MP, monochrome, also with f / 1.6 aperture.
Together, the two cameras reproduce that depth effect in which the background is blurred and the foreground is highlighted, in addition to double optical zoom and various image editing features.
On the front there is a 24 MP camera and f / 2.0 aperture for selfies which also manages to reproduce the depth effect. The camera is located in a notch that cuts out the center of the screen, much like the iPhone X.
But as noted by The Verge, you can hide the fringe by placing a status bar at the top of the screen through the device settings menu. Thus, the smartphone loses visible notch and screen space, and makes the top edge appear larger.
Finally, the P20 comes with 3,400 mAh battery, has a fingerprint reader below the screen and a basic facial recognition system. It costs 649 euros.
Huawei P20 Pro
The “Pro” model, as the name suggests, brings a series of upgrades over the “normal” P20. Starting with the screen, which is 6.1 inches, and here is AMOLED instead of LCD, with FHD + resolution and ratio of 18.7: 9, like the other P20.
Inside, the difference is sharper. The phone has 6 GB of RAM, plus the same 128 GB of internal memory and Kirin 970 processor. At the back is where it stands out: the P20 Pro has no less than three rear cameras.
One of the sensors is 40 MP with f / 1.8 aperture; the other is 20 MP, monochrome, with f / 1.6 aperture; and the latter is an 8 MP, telephoto lens with f / 2.4 aperture. Together, the three cameras allow optical zoom up to three times.
The same P20 selfie camera is on the P20 Pro, with 24 MP. To sustain all this there is a 4,000 mAh battery. The digital player continues below the screen and it comes with facial recognition equal to the smaller model.
The P20 Pro costs 899 euros.
Porsche Design Mate RS
Finally, continuing its partnership with the automaker Porsche, Huawei announced Porsche Design Mate RS, the world’s first smartphone with 512 GB of internal memory, already expected thanks to recent leaks in the press.
The Porsche Design Mate RS also has a triple camera like that of the P20 Pro, but it does not have a “fringe” on the screen like the iPhone X. In addition, it has two fingerprint readers: one integrated to the AMOLED screen and another to the rear .
The triple camera is the same as 40 MP, 20 MP and 8 MP of the other handset, including three times optical zoom. Inside, it’s also equal to the P20 Pro, with Kirin 970 processor and 6 GB of RAM. Internal memory has 256 GB option plus 512 GB.
The battery is also the same, at 4,000 mAh as well as the 24 MP front camera. Mate RS costs 1,695 euros. The model with 512 GB costs more than 2,000 euros.
