The Volocopter company, which is developing electric flying cars, believes its flying taxi service should start operating before 2020, according to TechCrunch.
“We believe that in two or three years we will have the first commercial applications somewhere in the world with our service,” said co-founder and CIO Alex Zosel. “It’s not that far,” he added.
The executive suggested that the first service is likely to be well-targeted, explaining that early applications should be used to cover points of increased congestion.
Yann de Vries of Atomico, a rival company of Volocopter, says that this type of vehicle can cover a distance of 70 km in 15 minutes, so a fleet of 10 or 20 flying cars is enough to relieve traffic.
