The fifth generation of mobile phone is coming, and a Chinese company already promises to launch a device compatible with the new networks in 2019. Huawei said that the company’s first 5G smartphone will hit the market in the second half of next year.
The 5G commercial networks are still not working and should take a while to be made available to the public, but this does not prevent Huawei from designing the first technology-compatible mobile phone. The device will use a 5G modem developed by Huawei itself, according to The Register website.
The Huawei handset will usher in the 5G era, but it should not reach the market by itself. The expectation is that other manufacturers also start to launch devices compatible with the new networks next year. Qualcomm and Samsung also work on 5G modens and plan to release them starting in 2019.
